From first call to routed prefix

An IPv4 transfer is a registry procedure, not just a purchase. These are the five stages every deal we broker goes through.

    We agree the prefix size, the RIR region and any reputation requirements, then price the block against recent comparable trades.

    Due diligence

    Before anyone signs, we check what the block has been doing: WHOIS and routing history, blocklist records, geolocation entries, and whether the holder is actually eligible to transfer it.

    Contract & escrow

    Purchase agreement signed by both sides, funds placed with a neutral escrow agent and released only once the registry change is confirmed.

    Registry transfer

    We file and track the transfer with the relevant RIR — ARIN specified-recipient and inter-RIR transfers, or the equivalent RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC procedures — including any needed-use justification and holding-period checks.

How long does an IPv4 transfer take?

Usually two to six weeks. Due diligence and contracting are quick; the variable is how fast both parties produce registry documentation and how busy the RIR queue is. Inter-RIR transfers take longer than transfers inside one region because two registries have to agree.

Do I have to justify the addresses I am buying?

It depends on the registry. ARIN requires a recipient to demonstrate need for specified-recipient and inter-RIR transfers. RIPE NCC does not ask for needs justification on transfers of existing allocations inside its region. We tell you which rules apply before you commit to anything.

What is the smallest block worth buying?

A /24, or 256 addresses. Most networks on the internet filter prefixes longer than a /24, so anything smaller cannot be announced globally on its own — it can only be used inside someone else's larger announcement.

Can I lease address space instead of buying it?

Yes. Leasing gets you routable space in days rather than weeks, with an authorization letter and route objects from the holder, and no registry transfer. It suits short projects and testing. Buying is the better economics if you need the space for years.

How do you check whether a block is clean?

We pull the block's WHOIS history, look at how and by whom it has been announced in BGP, check it against the major blocklists, and review its geolocation records. You see the findings before signing, not after.

I am selling — how do I know I will get paid?

Funds sit with a neutral escrow agent from the moment the agreement is signed. The buyer cannot withdraw them and you are paid as soon as the registry confirms the transfer. You never have to hand over the block on trust.
